LUCINDA WILNER

Based in Brooklyn, NY

B. 1943, Iowa City, Iowa

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Lucinda Wilner’s work is about a wide variety of subjects, nature particularly birds, cities, people, politicians, every day objects like furniture, text, and the environments we create – our stories, memories, problems. The artist engages the viewer in open-ended universal narratives, from existential loneliness to our history of colonization and development. The visual language the artist uses is observational, uninflected. It draws on scientific presentation and infographics as a counterpoint to intensely emotional subject matter.

Bio:

Lucy Wilner has always been an artist. Her work has been exhibited in group and solo shows throughout the U.S. and collected by both private individuals and institutions, including the Seattle Art Museum.
