ARTIST STATEMENT:

Annette Courtemanche is an emerging Toronto-based abstract artist working primarily with acrylic/mixed media on canvas. She has drawn and painted throughout her life and identifies as a self-taught artist with a need for spontaneous expression. Her work is often inspired by nature. Her canvases are an opportunity to explore her own emotions while opening a dialogue with the viewer.

Bio:

Annette Courtemanche studied Art History at the University of Toronto before delving into Contemporary painting at the AGO with Michael Toke. She is a founding member of the Christie Pit Artists Group which promotes artistic engagement in the richly diverse Toronto neighborhood where she lives. She is a contributor to the local art scene, and her pieces can be found in local cafes and in the private collections of Canadians. She recently installed three paintings, that was commissioned for a medical practice.
