Level Two | Collaborating Artist/Curator Annual Membership
Collaborating artist members have a page on our website that links to their own website. This page can be updated regularly to feature new works and is the starting point to be considered for upcoming exhibitions and curatorial proposals. We emphasize the word collaborating because the artists and curators that are actively engaged and working collaboratively with Art Lives Here staff and our community of artists and arts professionals will benefit the most from this membership.
Collaborating Artists and Curators are eligible to participate in exhibitions only after they have responded to our welcome email and request for materials. Participation is based on curatorial discretion. Most artists are invited to participate in an exhibition every two years. Artists participating in exhibitions are asked to be involved in the process from concept, organization, and throughout exhibition timelines, including artist talks, and programming. They are also required to have a presence in the exhibition space to talk with visitors.
This membership is for professional artists that have an online presence and is also open to experienced curators. Curators should understand that we curate shows by inviting existing collaborating artist members to participate in exhibitions that are relevant to their process, we do not have open calls as we don’t fund exhibitions through fees to submit. It is our preference to produce small group shows presenting artworks in meaningful dialogue.
Collaborating Artists and Curators are also encouraged to propose ideas for special projects. We also welcome their input and ideas for curatorial themes and locations for future exhibitions as well as programming ideas. Members at this level can also submit a proposal for Project Development assistance, if selected we will assist the artist to fundraise and develop a project. Temporary public art installations are prioritized because of their ability to engage underserved communities.
Art Lives Here staff is also available to review and edit artist statements and bios once a year.
