PROJECT DEVELOPMENT ARTIST CRISTINA SALAS
Art Lives Here started working with Brooklyn based artist Cristina Salas in the fall of 2022 to develop a public art installation titled The Dolls Garden. Curator and public art leader Connie Lee will be working collaboratively with the artist to fund raise, write grant proposals, fine tune the installation logistics and facilitate approvals with city agencies. After the artwork is installed Art Lives Here will continue to support the artist by assisting with programming and maintenance throughout the exhibition timeline. "Muñeca Viajera" pictured above is a public art installation created by Salas in collaboration with Fist Art Foundation. The artist’s experience with living installations was key to selecting her as Art Lives Here’s Project Development Artist. The timeline for Cristina’s installation is being slightly delayed by the birth of her second child sometime in June of 2024.
Cristina Salas is a mixed media artist, working with textiles, fiber, ceramics, paint, found objects, the possibilities are endless. The medium varies depending on how best to tell a story and create characters that allow the work to inhabit a space. Salas a Brooklyn based artist is originally from Ecuador. She holds dual Masters degrees in Architecture and Art Production.
