ART WORKSHOPS

Art Workshops

Art Lives Here collaborating artists lead workshops and educational programming for artists, adults, youth and children. The workshops are always free and the artists are compensated for their time, expertise and materials.

In 2022 Art Lives Here organized workshops at JVS Project Space, Living With Art and the Cultural Hub at Summer Streets.

2022 was the first year that Summer Streets extended up to East Harlem where Art Lives Here partnered with DOT (New York City Department of Transportation) to bring art activities to the cultural hub along East 109th Street at Summer Streets, the annual event that closes Park Avenue to cars for 3 consecutive Saturdays in August. Teachers and educators are welcome to attend any of our workshops and discover ideas and projects that they can take back to their classrooms. We also encourage artists and teaching artists to join us. Upcoming spring and summer workshops will be announced on our home page, email blasts and on social media. The gallery below features images from some of the workshops we hosted last year including open air life drawing, taking clay impressions of live tree bark with environmental artist Susan Stair, youth arts with Heather Cox pictured above, origami and migration narratives with Michele Brody, story telling, macrame with Wendy Gonzalez and fabric braiding with Carol Paik.
