ARTIST STATEMENT:

My work is inspired by the majestic river and dense woods that I see from my windows in Northern Manhattan. They are part of the texture of a city I love so well – Manhattan is not all skyscrapers and subways.

In this city I love, I create work that draws you close. It is small and intimate work – work that evokes the wonder of nature. It is work without noise or distractions.

I’m reminded of Cezanne who said, “Painting from nature is not copying the object; it is realizing one’s sensations.”
