Based in NYC, Long Island, Florence Italy

B. 1956 Freeport, New York

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Painting is a conversation between the subject and artist Nancy Sandler Bass. Whether working with still life, figure, or landscape, the aim is to capture the essence of the moment—a sense of time and place that can be experienced beyond the surface.

The artist explores the relationship between representation and abstraction through layers of materials, color, texture, and form to push the boundaries of the two-dimensional surface. Bass invites the viewer to connect with the work and their own memories, to create a shared human experience, one that exists beyond words.
