ARTIST STATEMENT:

Annette Courtemanche is an emerging Toronto-based abstract artist working primarily with acrylic/mixed media on canvas. She has drawn and painted throughout her life and identifies as a self-taught artist with a need for spontaneous expression. Her work is often inspired by nature. Her canvases are an opportunity to explore her own emotions while opening a dialogue with the viewer.

Bio:

Annette Courtemanche studied Art History at the University of Toronto before delving into Contemporary painting at the AGO with Michael Toke. She is a founding member of the Christie Pit Artists Group which promotes artistic engagement in the richly diverse Toronto neighborhood where she lives. She is a contributor to the local art scene, and her pieces can be found in local cafes and in the private collections of Canadians. She recently installed three paintings in a medical facility that was commissioned in 2024.
