ABOUT THE ARTIST

Mija Jung is an international artist, a painter splitting their time between New York and Berlin. Jung’s abstract paintings focus on empowerment and emotions, using color and mark-making. The artists work reevaluates gender issues experienced since youth. Mija grew up in Gwangju, South Korea. Their education began with the Korean minimalist masters of Hong-ik university, BFA/MFA, and later with American cultural activists, while at Rutgers University, MFA.

 Mija shows their work internationally in numerous gallery exhibitions, including the New York Arts Center, Robert Miller Gallery, Socrates Sculpture Park, New York; Hyundai Gallery, Kwanhoon Gallery, Seoul; Kleine Humboldt Galerie, Galerie Nord, Atelierhof Kreuzberg, Berlin; Galerie ARTQ13, Rome, among others. She is a recipient of the Ellis Elizabeth Scholarship in the United States and the MBC Grand Art Award in South Korea.
