ARTIST STATEMENT:

My work is a reflection of how I interpret what it means to be an artist. I work in a range of mediums, though most frequently I am painting and drawing.  I combine materials such as oil paint, pastels, and colored pencil to create surface texture and sometimes use collage to achieve desired effects.

I’m fascinated by social patterns that I see permeated throughout the art world, whether it be common gestures in a gallery setting, or the familiar throws of an artist’s process.  Oftentimes, I contemplate this ever-burgeoning industry, and my place within it as an artist. My practice is a means of processing those thoughts and sharing my observations. With the work I intend to return people to their bodies, to allude to the object-viewer relationship, and emphasize that art exists as a dialogue.

Alongside of my artistic practice, I am an independent curator for exhibitions that introduce up-and-coming artists.  I formed a curatorial collective in 2021, my colleagues and I have organized several large-scale art events in Brooklyn, and have participated in SPRING/BREAK Art Fair.
