Based in Harlem, New York, NY

ARTIST STATEMENT:

I work primarily with the figure, mainly the female nude in an interior space.  My concerns are with the expression of the body and the way light defines the form. The poses are inspired by images of women from art history, popular culture, and an expression of my reaction to the time I am living in.  I use models from diverse cultures and backgrounds with different body types and explore their relationship to their environment focusing on depicting light, the quality of light, atmospheric light and how light articulates the curves and contours of the body and how to translate this into material paint.
