ELSIE DELIZ

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Elsie Deliz is a mixed media artist, painting, collage, assemblage and print making. Stylistically her work ranges from classic and traditional, modern and contemporary. The beauty of nature is her inspiration. The places visited often - Puerto Rico and the Conservatory Garden in Central Park, inform the vibrant colors that find their way into her practice. She returns to certain subjects, time and time again, roosters, birds, flowers and natural landscapes.

Deliz works in a variety of mediums, watercolors which she feels she has mastered, and printmaking which she is studying to develop a proficiency. Recent works include linoleum prints and etchings on plexiglass. 

The artists practice is nurtured by the idea that one can never stop learning.  The work is based on what the artist’s eye recognizes and she allows her hands to decide how it should be created.
