ARTIST STATEMENT:

My work is about gestures and emotions conveyed through line, shape, and color. Often when I am working in the studio a song or a poem will pop into my head which influences the direction a piece will take. My process involves layers that visually link memories and feelings to illustrate (abstractly) the tensions that exist in life, between death and rebirth, violence and peace. I tend to work in small format because ultimately, I see my pieces as haikus: short verses defining a particular moment in time.
