ARTIST STATEMENT:

As a figurative artist, I have been producing paintings on the theme of female sensuality and women’s empowerment for over forty years. Since 1994, I have been a practicing artist while also being a mother. My major motifs are images of Goddesses expressing love to mother earth, women's rights, and environmental justice. My ‘Cultured Pearls Portraits’ (2017-ongoing) consists of more than 200 paintings that honor the sisterhood of artists, curators, art historians, art journalists, & art collectors who have inspired, influenced, and supported my work. These portraits are based on photographs sourced from social media. The women are sketched facing forward as they choose to stand and engage with the world. I choose colors that are vibrant which to me express a fierceness, love and beauty. My !Femme Power Goddess” and “Cultured Pearls Portraits” series of paintings portraying vibrant images of women from the female gaze”.
