ARTIST STATEMENT:

The work starts with a drawing of the direct memory of a dream. The interpretation of dreams is a shaky and strange place to stand and paint from. I am not seeking answers but a sort of awkward collective human experience in my late-night mind journeys. I started making dream memory drawings as a way to jump-start a new body of work. I became intrigued by the moment of hypnagogia and how some dreams stay with you for a few minutes or years. Once I got past the feeling of exposure, I realized dreams, like paintings, have their own logic. My very private and bizarre experiences are somehow awkwardly connected to the experiences of others.
